Zenith Bank/NBBF Women’s Premier Basketball League Phase 2 Dunks Off In Ilorin, Jos

The second phase of the 2025 Nigeria Basketball Federation (NBBF) Women’s Premier League, sponsored by Zenith Bank PLC, is set to commence at the University of Ilorin Multi-Purpose Sports Centre today.

The Atlantic Conference phase will conclude on September 1, 2025. Chairperson of the Women’s Basketball Premier League, Perpetua Clement, confirmed that the federation is fully prepared to adhere to the schedule.

Perpetua stated that all necessary arrangements have been made to ensure a seamless completion of the Atlantic Conference, while the Savannah Conference will take place in Jos, the capital of Plateau State.

In the first phase, held in Benin, defending champions Mountain of Fire and Miracle Ministries Basketball team and First Bank performed well against their rivals, including Dolphins, Bayelsa Blue Whales, and First Deep Waters. In the Savannah Conference, Air Warriors and Plateau Rocks emerged as the standout teams in a group that also features Customs, Kada Angels, HAM Warriors, Titans, Royal Aces, and Nasarawa Amazons.

The second phase of the Savannah Conference will also kick off on Monday in Jos. Zenith Bank, the tournament sponsor, has assured stakeholders of its commitment to promoting the development of the sport in Nigeria.

Group Managing Director and CEO of Zenith Bank, Dame Adaora Umeoji (OON), expressed pride in the league, noting that it has consistently produced results for Nigeria.

“We look forward to the second phase because that is where the finalists will emerge. We are continually working to enhance the tournament each year,” Umeoji stated.

NBBF President Musa Kida confirmed that the final eight, featuring the best teams from both conferences vying for the title, is scheduled to take place in Lagos from September 14 to 18, 2025.
