The Zenith Labour Party (ZLP) has elected new national working committee members who will steer the party’s affairs for the next four years, reaffirming its commitment to transparency, inclusivity, and good governance.
The party also said it will shape Nigeria’s political space through advocacy for policies that prioritise the people’s welfare.
The national publicity secretary of ZLP, Amb. Khalid Arewa, said the party executives were elected during its just-concluded 2025 National Convention in Bauchi State.
Delegates reviewed and amended the party’s constitution to prioritise transparency, accountability, and good governance, Arewa said in a statement.
During the convention new measures were also introduced to promote inclusivity, ensuring that all Nigerians have opportunities to participate in the party’s activities and decision-making processes.
However, the elected executive members are: Hon. Chief Barr. Dan Nwanyanwu who was elected as national chairman and Hon. Yahaya Makama – national secretary.
Interestingly, Nwanyanwu has been chairman of the party which he formed in the buildup to the 2023 general elections.
The veteran party administrator had also served as chairman of the Labour Party from 2004 to 2014.
Other members of the new executive are Alh. Usman Danjuma – national vice chairman North Central; Barr. Thankgod Enohoro LLM – national legal adviser; Mrs Chinyare Oge-Kalu – national women leader – Comr. Lucky Okurabore elected as national youth leader; and Amb. Khalid Arewa, an indigene from Bauchi State as national publicity secretary of the party.
Also, other executive members were elected from the six geo-political zones, ensuring balanced representation and reflecting the party’s commitment to diversity and national unity.
Speaking on the outcome of the convention, Arewa said, “The Zenith Labour Party (ZLP) is pleased to announce the successful conclusion of its 2025 National Convention, held on February 6, 2025.
The convention, which brought together party members from across the country, marked a significant milestone in the party’s journey.”
The ZLP reaffirmed its unwavering commitment to the principles of equality, equity, and transparency.
The party extended an open invitation to all Nigerians, urging them to join in the collective effort to build a better and more prosperous nation.
“ZLP is set to play a greater role in shaping Nigeria’s political landscape, advocating for policies that prioritize the welfare of the people, economic growth, and national unity,” he added.
