Borno State Governor Zulum has handed over power to his deputy, Alhaji Umar Kadafur, to serve as acting governor while he proceeds on a one-month vacation. The executive communication was read by the Speaker of the Borno State House of Assembly (BOSHA), Hon. Abdulkarim Lawan, during an emergency session on Friday.

Kadafur will act as the governor from  June 10 to 8 July, 2024. The speaker emphasised that this step was necessary to ensure the continuity of governance and smooth running of the state’s affairs during the governor’s absence.

Additionally, the legislative members are set to proceed on a recess and return on July 9, 2024.
