Governor of Bauchi State, Bala Mohammed has described Tafawa Balewa local government area in the state as mini-Nigeria and settlement of various ethnic groups from different parts of the country, and regretted that the area has been neglected by successive administrations.
Bala in continuation of his electioneering campaign for a second term said that as an ancestral home of Nigeria’s first and only prime minister, Tafawa Balewa, ought not to be neglected by any administration in Nigeria.
He told the crowd at Bununu, headquarters of the local government area yesterday that his administration is doing everything humanly possible to ensure that Tafawa Balewa LGA regains its lost glory in terms of infrastructural development and commercial centre in Bauchi South senatorial district of the state.
Governor Bala said, “Some of the development projects I executed in Tafawa Balewa LGA in the past three years such as roads construction, palace of traditional institutions and other health and education interventions are just a trendsetter, would do more if you re-elect me along with other elective positions.
“You could see how I constructed the road to Tapshin which defied successive past administrations in the state. I have just also inspected the tedious road from Boi to Lere and I will by God’s grace undertake its construction the moment you voted me into office for a second term tenure”, Kauran Bauchi further told the people.
He added, “There is also another gigantic road which spring from Mararraban Burgel – Gori – Kundum – Zari where people especially delivering mothers were dying on the way to health facility, while the road from Bogoro – Taknum linking to Burga – Dull is defying solution, I’m aware of it, just give me the second mandate, I know how to tackle it. This is in addition to Bal Road and the Katsinawa-Tashar Durumi”.
The governor said the era of strangers or non-settlers coming from Cameroon or Sudan Republics to rule Bauchi State is over, saying the state belongs to its indigenous people, ‘nothing more, nothing less’.
Bala said his administration is quite aware of the teething problems bedeviling the people, including lack of good motorable roads, inadequate drinking water, unemployment, and absence of tertiary institution, among others, expressing concern over the relocation of planned Air Force University at Tafawa Balewa to Kaduna.
He therefore implored the people, especially the eligible voters to ensure that the PDP administration in the state is given second term mandate and vote for Atiku Abubakar to emerge president on February 25 election.
Mohammed applauded President Muhammadu Buhari for his commitment in ensuring the realisation of the Kolmani Oil in Bauchi, stressing however that with the election of Atiku Abubakar as the president of the Federal Republic of Nigeria the oil exploitation in Bauchi and Gombe would receive a big boost.
