According to eyewitnesses, the vehicle lost control due to brake failure, veered off the road, and rammed into the frontage of Akanni Bookshop.

It subsequently collided with another truck and a Toyota Corolla car with registration number KNH 853 SB.

The collision forced the vehicles into adjoining structures, including the Ogbomoso Post Office and a phone accessory shop identified as Success Communication.

An eyewitness, Mr Ojo Taiwo, said that one person died at the scene while several others sustained various degrees of injuries.

“The injured victims were promptly taken to a nearby hospital for medical attention. This is not the first time such a tragic incident has occurred at Takie Roundabout. We are appealing to the government to provide a lasting solution to the recurring accidents in this area,” Mr Taiwo lamented.

The state’s Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) Sector Commander, Rosemary Alo, confirmed the incident on Wednesday, saying five vehicles were involved in the accident at 20:45 hours.

She explained that the nature of the injury included a head injury and broken thighs with excessive bleeding, and added that the Corpse was deposited at LAUTECH Teaching Hospital, Ogbomoso.

Recovered items included crash vehicles and a motorcycle, which is currently in the custody of the Owode Divisional police station in Ogbomoso.

She advised drivers always to ensure regular vehicle maintenance and avoid excessive speeding.
