A 14-foot memorial wall has been engraved with names of the 271 victims of the Yelewata massacre to honour the victims a year after the incident.

The one year remembrance mass of the June 13-14 2025 attack carried out by terrorists was held in Guma local government area of Benue State along the Makurdi- Lafia expressway at the weekend.

Speaking during the mass and unveiling of the monument, the Catholic bishop of Makurdi Diocese, Most Rev. Wilfred Anagbe, said the event was to honour the victims and demand justice.

Anagbe said, “We are back today, exactly one year later, to pray for the repose of the souls of the 271 innocent people who were murdered here in Yelewata. We cannot forget them because they were our fathers, mothers, children, brothers and sisters.”
