10 Attacked, Vehicles Vandalised At Wike PDP Faction Congress In Oyo

At least ten people and many vehicles were vandalised as suspected political thugs invaded and attacked the local government congresses of the faction of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) loyal to the finister of Federal Capital Territory, Mr Nyesom Wike in Oyo State.

There are two factions of the party in the state, while one is loyal to Wike, the other one is loyal to the state governor, Seyi Makinde.

The local government congresses of the Wike led faction was billed to take place on Saturday.

It was, however learnt that some hoodlums suspected to be political thugs went to attack the members while the congresses were going on.

About 10 people have been attacked so far and many vehicles have been vandalised.

Chairman of the faction loyal to Wike, Professor Abdulrahman Akinoso, when contacted confirmed the incident.

Akinoso in a telephone conversation noted that many people have been attacked.

He also disclosed that many vehicles had been vandalised while about ten people had been attacked.

He mentioned that people were attacked in local government such as Ibadan North, Ogbomoso North, Ibarapa Central and Akinyele.

He said, “Our local government congresses were attacked across Oyo state. Ibadan North, Ogbomoso South, Igboora (Ibarapa Central) Akinyele.

“Three vehicles in Ibadan North at Gbolarumi House Are avenue Bodija. About 10 people across the state.”

Confirming the incident, former deputy governor and chieftain of the party, Barrister Hazeem Gbolarumi, said the political thugs came in 15 buses into his house and destroyed eight vehicles.

He said, “we saw them. They came in 15 buses when the congress was going on and attacked us and destroyed about eight vehicles.“
