10th GOC 6 Division Assumes Office

The 10th General Officer Commanding, (GOC) 6 Division Nigerian Army/Land Component commander of Joint Task Force (South-South) Operation Delta Safe, Major General Jamal Abdussalam has assumed office.

This came as 2 Brigade Nigerian Army emerged champions of the 6 Division Nigerian Army Corporal and below competition.

A statement by the acting deputy director of Army Public Relations 6 Division Nigerian Army, Lt Col Iweha Ikedichi said the brigade clinched the bragging rights for the 2023 training year after putting up impressive performance at the 5-day training event which concluded over the weekend.

The outgone GOC, 6 Division Nigerian Army, Major General Olufemi Oluyede who spoke at the handing and taking over ceremony, thanked officers and men of the Division for their support and cooperation which enabled him record the modest successes attributed to the Division.

He called on brigade commanders, commanders of affiliated formations and units, officers and men of the division to extend even greater level of support to the new GOC.

While responding, Abdussalam appreciated the successes recorded under the leadership of the outgone GOC and called on officers and men to always bear in their minds, the basics of soldiering and pledged to consolidate on the successes of his predecessor. He stated that threats to personnel, equipment and location would not be condoned.

Oluyede was recently redeployed to Army Headquarters, Abuja as director, Directorate of Inspection and Compliance, Office of the Chief of Army Staff.
