Eno Inspects Udom’s Projects, Orders Demolition Of Illegal Structures

Akwa Ibom State governor, Pastor Umo Eno, currently on tour of some ongoing projects and facilities inherited from his immediate predecessor, Udom Emmanuel, to ascertain the state of the projects with a view to aligning them with his vision under the Arise Agenda, has ordered the demolition of structures impeding the completion of the projects.
He, therefore, directed that buildings which compensation had been paid for along the dualised Airport Road expansion project sites, should be immediately demolished.
The governor gave the order during his inspection of the 21-storey Smart Building and other project sites on the capital, Uyo, explaining that “having assumed duty, I considered it expedient to inspect government facilities and projects after studying the handing over notes to enable me ascertain the state of the facilities and chart a way forward for the realization of the blueprint of my administration.”
He said, “Naturally when you assume office you want to see facilities that we have invested and see how to align the facilities with the vision that we currently have, so you have to inspect those facilities especially the roads that are ongoing projects, we want to ensure that we complete the roads to allow for continuity.
“We won’t abandon any project. We have read the handing over notes, so let’s see what is on ground and marry it with what we read.”
The governor who was accompanied by his deputy, Dr Akon Eyakenyi, Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Prince Enobong Uwah, visited the Administrative Block in Government House, Uyo, the Ibom E- Library along IBB Avenue, Uyo ; Wet And Dry Park at Ibom Tropicana Entertainment Centre ; on-going road expansion project along Airport Road, Uyo.
Others include the Nsit Atai-Okobo road project ; the 1,000 – capacity Hotel at the Ibom Tropicana Entertainment Centre (ITEC) and the 21-storey Smart Building at the Udo Udoma Banking Layout, Uyo.
During his stop over at the E- Library, IBB Avenue, Governor Eno acknowledged the importance of Information and Communication Technology, ICT, saying that the facility would be upgraded to enable it serve the purpose for which it was established.
