Within 100 days in office, the administration of Governor Ademola Adeleke has released the sum of N1.528 billion for bond certificates for retired workers of both state and local government while the sum of N350 million has equally been released as gratuities to retirees in Osun State.
The state government yesterday issued bond certificates totalling N632.952 million to 119 retirees cutting across the civil service, parastatals and tertiary institutions in the state.
Making the presentation at Osogbo, Adeleke said 62 local government service retirees had earlier received bond certificates totalling N205.428 million while 92 primary school retirees got bond certificates totalling N621.819 million.
Adeleke said under the Contributory Pension Scheme, he had ordered the release of a sum of N700 million between November 2022 and January 2023 for bond certificates for retirees at the state level.
According to him, for retirees at the local government level, he approved the sum of N828 million for bond certificates for retirees in primary schools and local governments between November 2022 and January 2023.
His words, “I have also acted with respect to the Old Pension Scheme. At the State level, from inception of the administration to the end of January, 2023, a sum of N200 million has been paid as gratuity.
“At the local government level, the sum of N150 million has so far been released as gratuity to retired local government staff and primary school staff”.
