150 Persons Benefit from Abia Lawmaker’s Empowerment Programme

A total of 150 persons have benefitTd from a multi-million naira empowerment programme sponsored by the lawmaker representing Obingwa West constituency in the Abia State House of Assembly, Hon. Erondu Uchenna-Erondu Jnr.

The items, which included motorcycles and buses, among others, were handed over to the beneficiaries as part of activities to mark Uchenna-Erondu’s birthday celebration in Umuaro, Obingwa local government area.

In his address, Uchenna-Erondu explained that the programme was part of his broader commitment to improving the economic well-being of the people through sustainable opportunities

The programme’s sponsor said empowering youths, women and vulnerable members of the society remains central to his vision of community development.

Uchenna-Erondu, who is the chairman of the House Committee on Civil Service Matters also reaffirmed his support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and All Progressives Congress (APC) candidates in the state in the 2027 election.

The deputy speaker of the House of Representatives, Benjamin Kalu, represented by Emma Eke, said the programme would create employment and self-reliance, and reduce youth restiveness.

Similarly, Nigeria’s Ambassador to the Kingdom of Spain and former governor of the state, Okezie Ikpeazu, lauded Uchenna-Erondu for the programme.

Represented by his wife, Nkechi, Ikpeazu commended the growing spirit of political collaboration among leaders seeking to improve the lives of ordinary citizens in the state.

In his address, the state chairman of the APC, Chijioke Chukwu, described Uchenna-Erondu, who has served the state in many capacities, as a rare leader committed to the development of his people.

Other speakers were former deputy governor of the state, Chris Akomas, Sam Nkire, Nkechi Nwaogu, Emeka Onyenso, Chris Enweremadu, Uzor Azubuike and Nyerere Anyim.
