2 ATBUTH Staff, 2 Others Arrested For Allegedly Killing Security Guard

Operatives of the Bauchi State Police Command have arrested a pharmacist, Ibrahim Yahaya and Dr Musa Awwal, both staff of Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University Teaching Hospital Bauchi (ATBUTH) for allegedly beating a security guard, Dauda Polmi, to death.

The suspects were arrested alongside two other accomplices identified as Imrana Ibrahim and Zakariya’u Isa.

LEADERSHIP gathered that Polmi was severely beaten during an altercation involving him and the suspects at his place of work.

The deceased security guard was rushed to ATBUTH for medical treatment but was pronounced dead shortly after arrival.

Confirming the incident to reporters on Sunday morning, spokesperson of Bauchi Police Command, CSP Ahmed Wakil said investigation revealed that the incident followed accusations bordering on theft involving clothings and personal belongings of a tenant.

CSP Wakil said all the four suspects were being held in police custody, assisting with investigation.

Wakil added, “The Commissioner of Police has ordered the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) to leave no stone unturned in unraveling the circumstances of the attack.

“This is a serious case, and we will ensure justice is served.”

Wakil said remains of the deceased security guard have been deposited at the ATBUTH mortuary pending further examination.
