Tragedy struck the Kano State House of Assembly yesterday as two serving lawmakers died within minutes of each other, plunging the state’s political terrain into shock and mourning.

Hon. Aminu Sa’adu, who represented Ungogo Constituency, reportedly fell ill shortly after arriving at the Assembly complex earlier in the day. He was immediately rushed to a hospital for medical attention, but was later pronounced dead by doctors.

Minutes after news of Sa’adu’s death filtered out, another devastating report emerged with the passing of Hon Sarki Aliyu Daneji, the lawmaker representing Kano Municipal Local Government Area.

Colleagues, political stakeholders and residents of Kano State were left in disbelief, describing the development as a painful loss not only to the legislature but also to the state as a whole, given the roles both lawmakers played in lawmaking and constituency representation.
