A network of Christian professionals and businesspersons under the aegis of the Africa Kingdom Business Forum (AKBF) has inaugurated its international headquarters in Abuja, while pushing to change the narrative of limited participation in politics by members of the Christian faith.
The Forum, which aims to transform Africa, starting from Nigeria, noted the its headquarters with the state of the art equipment will coordinate its activities in collaboration with other organisations involved in mobilising Christians ahead of the 2023 general elections.
The Continental Chairman of AKBF, Engr. Steve Olumuyiwa made this known in a chat with journalists at the weekend after the commissioning of the Abuja office, disclosing that the Africa Kingdom Business Forum started off ideologically in 1997 as a market place initiative for the realisation of God’s prophetic plans for the transformation of the nations on the African continent through active direct engagement on what he described as the seven influence areas or mountains of society.
He noted that this was based on the realisation that “in order to see a change in our nation, we need to get involved in the day-to-day of what we call the marketplace in the nation so that we can be part of what is being done.”
Engr. Olumuyiwa, a professional Electrical Engineer and businessman, added that “the only people who can change the society are people who themselves have been changed and that’s why we talk about what we call self-government – someone who knows how to do the right thing whether someone is there or not.
“So, that was where we started. And for us today, it is a joy that finally we’re able to open an office here in the city of Abuja”.
On the specific roles of the Forum in birthing a pro-masses leadership ahead of the 2023 general elections, the AKBF Continental Chairman revealed that the forum will be engaging in “strong advocacy through raising of men and women that will change society”.
He added that the Forum is organising a masterclass, starting in January as part of “sensitisation and engaging with men and women who are already in active politics; including people in the National Assembly, people in various state Assemblies.
