Honourable Esosa Iyawe, member representing Oredo Federal Constituency at the House of Representatives, has promised his constituents a robust 2024, after distributing food items to the people to cushion the effect of the economic hardship in the country.
Esosa Iyawe demonstrated the significance of the festive season through the outreach to the poor and market men and women in his constituents, during the 2023 festive season.
The lawmaker, who was elected to the Green Chamber last year under the Labour Party, personally joined the food distribution exercise undertaken at every nook and cranny of the constituency.
According to Esosa Iyawe, the gesture was aimed at repaying the people for entrusting their mandate to him, and to reduce hardship currently being faced by the people. One of the items shared was rice, which is no longer on the menu of the common man, due to its exorbitant price.
In their show of acceptance and approval of him, the people trooped out in their numbers to receive the items.
Iyawe expressed that the essence of the season is to show love to all.
In a Christmas mesage, he said, “Christmas is a season of love and giving. Reaching out to the market men and women across Oredo is a part of expressing my love for the people. May the Christmas season fill your homes with joy, your heart with love and your life with laughter and may the New Year 2024 be prosperous for your household.”
Honourable Iyawe has an uncommon bond with his constituents, which stems from his impactful empowerment programmes since his election into the House of Representatives.
In his New Year message to the people, the engineer-turned politician summed the outgone year as “harsh economic realities”, and promised to continue to deliver projects that will make life better for the people, adding that issues of concern to them will always be tabled before the House every time.
He praised his constituents for their perseverance in the face of the unprecedented economic challenges in Nigeria, and admitted that though the task at hand is not a stroll in the park, their support gives him the necessary motivation to keep going.
“It wasn’t any easy task, but knowing that you were there gave me the needed boost to move on. It was, no doubt, a challenging year, which was full of unpredictabilities and harsh economic realities, but we weathered through and we are in 2024. I must commend you for your resilience in the face of dire situations that threatened the fabrics of our nation, but with God we pulled through. In the New Year, I will continue to support and embark on programmes that will be of benefit to you and ensure that laws that will enhance your wellbeing are passed,” Iyawe promised.
“I will also ensure that I continue to do projects that will impact on our lives as a people and make sure the issue concerning our constituency are tabled before the House at all times. With the government trying to find a solution to the myriad of problems bedeviling the nation, the new year will be tough, but I am sure at the end of the day, we shall all smile.I salute your courage and pray that the new year brings us every good thing our heart desires.”
