Police Nab 8 Suspected Murderers, Kidnappers In Ekiti

Operatives of Ekiti State Police Command have arrested eight persons in connection with the killing of two persons and kidnapping of three others.

The suspects were apprehended by operatives of the Command’s Rapid Response Squad (RRS).

According to Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Ekiti State Command, SP Sunday Abutu, the suspects include Sule Dairu, 25 years; Ali Bello, 25; Mohammodu Hammed, 21; Ali Salihu Medoki, 25; Ori Gambo a.k.a Gambo Alhaji, 20; Shaibu Umaru a.k.a Gahi, 45; Ibrahim Abdullahi a.k.a Rusku, 27; and 40-year-old Suberu Lawal.

The suspects were being held for the murder of one Mohammodu Ibrahim and Ibrahim Baba as well as the kidnapping of Alhaji Jubril Abu, Awa Jubril ‘f’ and Iliasu Guda.

Investigation, according to Abutu, revealed that, “on 7th May, 2025 at about 10pm, the gang, numbering about 10, invaded Isah Camp at Odo Ayedun-Ekiti, shot Mohammodu Ibrahim dead and kidnapped four others but later killed Ibrahim Baba after collecting ransom from the family members.

“During investigation, all the arrested suspects confessed to the commission of the crime and narrated the roles each of them played before, during and after the incident”.

He added that some items belonging to the victims such as one Tecno phone, shirts, trousers slippers, among others were recovered from the suspects.

The police Spokesman noted that arrested suspects have been charged to court and remanded in the Correctional Centre.

The State Commissioner of Police, CP Joseph Eribo, reiterates the Command’s zero tolerance for crimes and criminality and called on the members of the public to be security conscious and ensure effective collaboration with the Police and other security agencies.
