Guinea-Bissau made a winning start to their 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying campaign after defeating Tanzania 2-0 away in their Group L opener.
The visitors took control in the 33rd minute when Franculino broke the deadlock to give Guinea-Bissau a 1-0 lead going into half-time.
Tanzania, who had D. Kibu booked in the 22nd minute, struggled to find a response after the break as Guinea-Bissau continued to pose a threat.
The visitors doubled their advantage in the 58th minute through M. Baldé, leaving Tanzania with a difficult task in the final stages.
Guinea-Bissau held firm to secure all three points, despite D. Gomes receiving a late booking in stoppage time.
The 2-0 victory gives Guinea-Bissau an ideal start to their Group L campaign, while Tanzania will have to regroup ahead of their next qualifier.
