Two support groups within the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Nasarawa State have called on Governor Abdullahi Sule and the party to microzone the 2027 governorship ticket to Nasarawa local government area.
The groups, Nasarawa West Youth Alliance and APC Youth Wing, made the appeal in a joint statement signed by their chairpersons, Hon Isaac Dantaro Yaki, former councillor of Tattara/Kondoro ward, Karu LGA, and Sarki Abubakar Ladan, from Kokona LGA.
According to the groups, microzoning the ticket to Nasarawa LGA would ensure equity and fairness and strengthen the APC’s chances of victory in the forthcoming election.
“It is in the interest of peace, unity and inclusiveness that Nasarawa local government, one of the most strategic councils in Nasarawa West senatorial district, should be considered for the 2027 governorship ticket,” the statement read.
The groups further noted that several prominent leaders in the state, including the former national chairman of APC, Senator Abdullahi Adamu, and some stakeholders from the Lafia axis, have openly supported the ticket zoning to the Western region.
They, however, stressed that Nasarawa LGA stands out among the LGAs in the district in terms of political strength, numerical voting capacity, and contribution to the APC’s electoral roll from 2011.
“We have come together under the banner of progressive youth to lend our voice to this noble agitation. It is no longer news that stakeholders, including our revered leader Senator Abdullahi Adamu, have made a strong case for our zone to produce the next governor. We believe that zoning the ticket to Nasarawa LGA will further solidify APC’s dominance in the state. It will be a strategic masterstroke,” she said.
They urged Governor Sule, who is serving his second term, to ensure he endorses candidates who can sustain and build on his legacy.
“We have eminently qualified individuals from the Nasarawa West, but as it stands, the best of them who possess everything needed to win a governorship election and succeed our hardworking governor is from the Nasarawa local government.
“We must understand that politics is full of betrayals, and the governor can’t afford to give those who will snitch on him after leaving office the tickets.
“Gov. Sule has built indelible legacies and must ensure the person who will succeed him must be someone who will sustain and build on his achievements.
The statement concluded, “We are therefore appealing to our fellow progressives to join us in this advocacy for micro-zoning the tickets to Nasarawa local government.”
