All Progressives Congress (APC) Youth Parliament in the North-East has urged President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to sustain his working partnership with Vice President Kashim Shettima throughout the lifespan of his administration.

During activities to mark Nigeria‘s 65th Independence anniversary yesterday in Bauchi, the group stressed that keeping Shettima as Tinubu‘s running mate beyond 2027 would strengthen the party’s unity and secure its electoral victory up to the 2037 presidential polls.

The chairman of the parliament, Kabir Garba Kobi, cautioned that speculations about dropping the vice president could spell grave danger for the party, particularly in overcoming the hurdles of the 2027 elections.

“The North East APC Youth Parliament fears that if the party listens to the distractions of certain political surrogates, such action may trigger serious challenges, not only in the subregion but across the North as a whole,“ Kobi said.

He praised Vice President Shettima‘s unwavering loyalty to President Tinubu, his active representation of Nigeria at global platforms, and his dedication to actualising the Renewed Hope Agenda.

The parliament also commended Tinubu for bold reforms, particularly the removal of fuel subsidy and the unification of exchange rates, describing them as landmark steps that rescued the economy from collapse and freed resources for development programmes.
