The Bauchi State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has dismissed concerns over the defection of some of its members to the Peoples Redemption Party (PRP), insisting that the party remains united, resilient and firmly positioned for victory in the 2027 general elections.
The party said the exit of a few individuals does not diminish its strength or reflect the political reality in the state, describing attempts to portray the defections as a major setback as misleading.
In a statement issued by the State Publicity Secretary, Shehu Dauda Mohammed, the APC maintained that its structures remain active across all 20 local government areas and 323 wards in Bauchi State, with members continuing mobilisation ahead of the next electoral cycle.
According to the party, while every Nigerian has the constitutional right to choose a political platform, the departure of a handful of members should not be exaggerated into evidence of a weakening APC.
The statement noted that the affected individuals had, over time, become increasingly detached from the party’s collective decisions, discipline and political direction, adding that their formal exit merely confirmed an existing reality.
“A political party is not defined by the movement of a few individuals. Its strength is measured by the resilience of its structures, the reach of its grassroots organisation, the commitment of its members and its continuing connection with the people. On all these counts, the APC remains firmly established across Bauchi State,” the statement said.
The party stressed that its immediate political objective is to secure Bauchi State for the re-election of President Bola Tinubu, reclaim the Government House, and win National Assembly, State Assembly and other elective positions in the 2027 polls.
It called on members and supporters to remain steadfast and intensify grassroots mobilisation across the state, expressing confidence that the APC would emerge stronger as preparations for the next general elections gather momentum.
The party added that it remains committed to offering what it described as a credible, disciplined and purposeful alternative for the people of Bauchi State.
