Plateau State governor, Barr. Caleb Mutfwang, has reaffirmed his commitment to collaborating with groups working to mobilise support for President Bola Tinubu to be re-elected next year.

The governor and the leaders of the support groups declared that the President would record a landslide victory in Plateau State in the 2027 presidential election.

Mtfwang also pledged his administration’s support for the Renewed Hope Youth Engagement.

He described the initiative as a credible platform for empowering young people and promoting their participation in governance, leadership and national development.

Mutfwang, represented by his deputy, Mrs Josephine Piyo, spoke on Wednesday during the inauguration of the Plateau State Coordinating Unit of the Renewed Hope Youth Engagement in Jos.

He said the inauguration was more than the unveiling of a political structure, noting that it represented a shared vision that recognises young people as indispensable partners in nation-building rather than mere spectators in governance.

According to him, the initiative aligns with his administration’s commitment to youth participation, innovation, entrepreneurship, civic responsibility and sustainable development.

“I congratulate the national leadership of the Renewed Hope Youth Engagement, the Plateau State Coordinator, Mr. Wilson Manji, and every member of the coordination team for their dedication to mobilising young people around the ideals of responsible citizenship, patriotism and constructive engagement.

“I encourage this coordination unit to distinguish itself through service, integrity, innovation and inclusiveness.

” Let your activities go beyond political mobilisation and become a catalyst for leadership development, civic education and meaningful community engagement,” the governor said.

Mutfwang added that his administration would continue to support programmes that expand opportunities for young people, stressing that the success of Plateau State depended largely on the success of its youthful population.

He also commended President Tinubu for placing youth development at the centre of the Renewed Hope Agenda, saying sustainable national development can only be achieved through the active participation of young people.

Earlier, Plateau State Coordinator of the Renewed Hope Youth Engagement, Wilson Manji, expressed confidence that President Tinubu would secure overwhelming support from Plateau voters in the 2027 presidential election.

“You know what happened in 2023, but 2027 is going to be different. We are going to play a very significant role as we move ahead. Plateau people will deliver the desired votes for President Tinubu,” he said.

Manji urged young people to embrace the Renewed Hope Agenda and actively participate in programmes aimed at promoting development, peace and good governance, describing youths as critical stakeholders in Nigeria’s democratic future.

Also speaking, Plateau State Renewed Hope Ambassador and Coordinator of the Renewed Hope Agenda, Hon. Ernest Abner Da’a, defended the economic reforms introduced by the Tinubu administration, particularly the removal of fuel subsidy and the unification of the foreign exchange market.

He acknowledged that the reforms initially brought hardship but argued that they had significantly increased revenues available to the Federal Government and state governments for infrastructure development.

According to him, the reforms have repositioned Nigeria’s economy and earned positive assessments from international financial institutions, while major infrastructure projects across the country demonstrate the benefits of the policy.

Abner cited the ongoing reconstruction of the Akwanga-Jos-Bauchi-Gombe highway and other strategic road projects as evidence of the Federal Government’s commitment to improving transportation, security, healthcare access and economic development.

He urged members of the various APC support groups to remain united ahead of the 2027 elections.

“We have one mission, one party, one message and one mobilisation framework. Every candidate of our party deserves our support. We must put aside divisions and work together for victory,” he said.

Chairman of the Association of Local Governments of Nigeria (ALGON) in Plateau State and Chairman of Wase local government area, Alhaji Hamisu Anani, assured the gathering that council chairmen across the state would take the mobilisation campaign to the grassroots.

He said local government chairmen would move from village to village to canvass support for the Renewed Hope movement and President Tinubu’s re-election.

National Coordinator of the Renewed Hope Youth Engagement, Hon. Abdulazeez Abubakar Kaka, said President Tinubu’s economic reforms had strengthened the financial capacity of state governments, enabling unprecedented investment in infrastructure and development projects.

He pointed to increased allocations to states, the student loan programme, improved welfare for members of the Armed Forces and renewed investor confidence as some of the achievements of the administration.

Kaka charged the newly inaugurated Plateau leadership to continue engaging youths, students, women, traditional institutions and political stakeholders in building a formidable grassroots structure ahead of the 2027 elections.

LEADERSHIP Friday reports that the inauguration attracted senior government officials, APC leaders, local government chairmen, youth organisations, women groups, students and supporters from across the 17 local government areas of Plateau State.
