The Lagos State chapter of the Renewed Hope Labourers Network has endorsed President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for a second term in office and declared Deputy Governor Obafemi Hamzat as its preferred candidate for the 2027 Lagos governorship election.
The endorsement was contained in a statement issued on Thursday and signed by the group’s Lagos State Coordinator, John Folarin Odusote, who described both leaders as “tested reformers” with proven capacity to deliver sustained development.
According to Odusote, the decision followed extensive consultations across the network’s membership in the state, with a consensus on the need for continuity in governance at both federal and state levels.
He said the administration of President Tinubu has shown commitment to economic reforms, infrastructure development and institutional restructuring, adding that such policies require time and consistency to yield full results.
“We believe the ongoing reforms need continuity and political will to mature. President Tinubu has demonstrated courage in implementing difficult but necessary policies, and a second term will help consolidate these gains,” the statement said.
The group noted that reforms in fiscal management and governance are gradually repositioning the country for long-term growth, stressing that policy stability remains critical.
On Lagos politics, the network described Hamzat as a “quiet achiever” whose contributions have played a key role in sustaining the state’s development trajectory.
Odusote said Hamzat’s experience in public service, particularly in infrastructure and technology, makes him well-suited to lead Lagos into its next phase of growth.
“Dr Hamzat has shown competence, loyalty and a deep understanding of Lagos’ development blueprint. His involvement in digital governance and public service reforms reflects a forward-thinking leadership approach,” he added.
The group emphasised that Lagos, as a rapidly expanding megacity, requires leadership that combines continuity with innovation to address challenges such as population growth, urban infrastructure and economic expansion.
It also acknowledged the role of Abiodun Faleke, described as the group’s grand patron, for his support and influence in promoting people-oriented governance.
The RHLN called on Nigerians and Lagos residents to support its position, stressing that sustained leadership is key to consolidating development gains.
The group added that it would begin grassroots mobilisation across the state to build support for both Tinubu and Hamzat ahead of the 2027 general elections, expressing confidence that its endorsement reflects broader public aspirations for stability and progress.
