Ahead of the 2027 generalĀ  election, Kebbi State Elders Consultative Forum has warned politicians in the state against the exchange of harsh or abusive comments in whatever form on radio, television or social media platforms.

The acting chairman of the forum, who is also the former chief judge of Kebbi State, Justice Muhammed Suleiman Ambursa (rtd), gave the warning in Birnin Kebbi on the heels of multiple exchanges of harsh words and even abusive comments on various media by politicians in the name of protecting one another.

He called on media organisations and other online platforms to avoid creating avenues for unscrupulous politicians to express whatever comes up in their minds, whether good or bad, in order to satisfy their masters.

According to him,Ā  such actions breach NBC and NUJ professional ethics.

Ambursa however noted that the forum will continue to monitor comments by politicians in the mediums in order to offer advice where the politicians did wrong.
