A socio-political group in Kebbi State, Kebbi Progressive Youths (KEPYO), has urged residents to remain vigilant amid increasing political activities ahead of the 2027 general elections.

In a statement issued on Monday, the group’s spokesperson, Comrade Musa Adamu, said recent political realignments in the state reflect ongoing efforts by politicians to reposition themselves.

Adamu referenced the defection of former Attorney-General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Abubakar Malami, from the All Progressives Congress (APC) to the African Democratic Congress, as well as recent political movements involving the 2023 governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the state, Aminu Bande.

He said such developments are part of the evolving political landscape and called on residents to remain informed and engaged.

“The current wave of political movements underscores the need for citizens to stay attentive and make informed decisions,” Adamu said.

He urged the electorate to prioritise issues such as competence, accountability and leadership capacity when assessing political actors.

“Residents should carefully evaluate those seeking public office based on their track record and vision for the state,” he added.

The group also expressed support for the administration of Kebbi State Governor, Nasir Idris, noting that his leadership has contributed to increased confidence in governance.

According to KEPYO, the progress recorded by the administration provides a basis for continuity, while urging citizens to remain committed to peaceful and issue-based political participation.
