Niger State immediate past commissioner for Special Duties, Abdulrazaq Muazu Jikantorro, has said that he resigned his appointment to contest for the House of Representatives seat of Agwara and Borgu federal constituency to sustain the fortune of the party in the area.
He spoke when he presented his letter of intent at the weekend, adding that the peculiar security and economic challenges in the constituency brought to fore the need for the All Progressives Congress APC to field vibrant candidates to win in the 2027 general election.
According to him, his aspiration was not for personal gain but the good of the party and the people of the constituency, in view of the present state of things.
Jikantorro who is also the Jakandan Borgu maintained that the love for the people and the progress of the party were the reasons he decided to leave his commissioner position to contest.
He said like other commissioners who indicated interest to contest, they went and told Governor Mohammed Umaru Bago who wished them luck in their aspirations and that the decision was not taken without consulting the governor who is the leader of the party.
While acknowledging the efforts of the party leaders over time, he said people who could win election must be encouraged to bolster the chances of APC in the next election.
He said based on his political history and background, he was well positioned to give the constituency true representation that would be felt by all the constituents and therefore sought for their support.
