As preparations for the 2027 general elections gather momentum, Dr Hope Omeiza, has emerged as a strong contender for the House of Representatives’ seat in Okene/Ogori-Magongo Federal Constituency.
The aspirant draws attention because of his record in healthcare delivery and community services.
In an interaction with journalists in Lokoja, a chietain of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Samuel Ahovi Joseph said Omeiza is steadily gaining traction among party stakeholders and constituents due to his sustained grassroots engagement and humanitarian efforts across Kogi Central.
Joseph said through the Hope Omeiza Foundation, the aspirant had led various interventions aimed at improving the welfare of underserved communities. These initiatives include the provision of potable water, support programmes for widows and the elderly, and empowerment schemes designed to enhance livelihoods.
“In the health sector, Omeiza, a medical doctor and public health specialist, has organised free medical outreaches targeting vulnerable groups. His advocacy in mental health and drug abuse prevention has also received recognition, particularly through the Vanguard Against Drug Abuse (VGADA), an organisation he founded to combat substance abuse among young people.
“Beyond healthcare, he has contributed to youth development through job creation, educational support, and intellectual initiatives such as chess competitions. Omeiza’s academic credentials include a Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS), alongside postgraduate training in public health, clinical psychology and addiction management, positioning him as a professional with diverse expertise,” he said
Joseph noted that his rising profile within the APC could shape the party’s primary contest in the constituency, especially as voters increasingly prioritise aspirants with proven records and grassroots impact.
According to him, elections, though still some distance away, he believes the race for the Okene/Ogori-Magongo seat will likely revolve around credibility, performance and the capacity of aspirants to address the developmental needs of the people.
