As the 2027 general elections draw closer, a political support group known as the London Boy Movement has passed a vote of confidence on the governorship consensus candidate in Nasarawa State, Senator Ahmed Aliyu Wadada.

The movement cited Wadada’s track record, experience and contributions to economic and grassroots development in Nasarawa State.

The endorsement came during the official unveiling of the London Boy Movement, a grassroots political organisation established to mobilise support for the All Progressives Congress (APC) and ensure its victory in the 2027 elections.

The movement is specifically backing the governorship aspiration of APC stalwart, Senator Ahmed Wadada Aliyu, whom members described as a tested and trusted leader capable of driving the next phase of development in Nasarawa State.

Speaking at the unveiling, Chairman of the London Boy Movement, Stephen Abraham, said the initiative was born out of the need to move communities away from outdated political sentiments toward strategic and competence-based leadership.

According to him, the movement is committed to grassroots enlightenment, youth mobilisation, and connecting diaspora exposure with local development, while emphasising that leadership should be earned through preparation, experience, and competence.

Similarly, the movement’s Director-General, Joseph Maiwada, described the unveiling as the beginning of a transformational vision anchored in courage, competence, and strategic governance.

“At the centre of that vision stands Senator Ahmed Wadada Aliyu,” he stated.

Maiwada explained that the movement is built on three core principles — tested, trusted, and ready — stressing that Nasarawa State cannot afford political experimentation at this critical stage of its development.

He described the movement as a bridge between aspiration and purposeful governance, particularly for young people seeking visionary, results-oriented leadership.

According to him, Senator Wadada is not new to public service, having previously served in the House of Representatives and currently representing Nasarawa West in the Nigerian Senate, where he chairs the Senate Committee on Public Accounts.

“This is a man who understands governance, budgeting, accountability, and the workings of government. For Nasarawa State, that experience matters because the next phase of development must be entrusted to tested leadership,” he said.

Maiwada further noted that Wadada combines a strong grassroots connection with national influence, adding that he understands both the realities of Nasarawa State and the corridors of federal power where development partnerships and opportunities are secured.

He stressed that leadership goes beyond titles and should be measured by impact through empowerment initiatives, healthcare interventions, youth opportunities, and strategic governance.

Also speaking on behalf of Senator Ahmed Wadada Aliyu, Emmanuel Bako described the senator as a liberal, accessible, and understanding leader who relates freely with people across different backgrounds.

According to him, Wadada represents tested capacity, strategic governance, and leadership driven by results rather than propaganda or emotional politics.

“Our movement believes Nasarawa deserves leadership beyond sentiment, tribal divisions, and empty promises. We need leadership that can unite the people, negotiate effectively, and deliver meaningful development,” he said.

Bako added that modern leadership requires a balance between grassroots understanding and global exposure, noting that the London Boy narrative seeks to project Wadada as a leader capable of attracting investments, development initiatives, and strategic partnerships to Nasarawa State.

He maintained that the senator’s popularity is rooted not only in political messaging but also in his accessibility, consistency, philanthropy, grassroots engagement, business support, and legislative experience.

He also unveiled key components of Wadada’s development agenda, including rural and urban infrastructure development, trade and industrialisation, investment promotion, improved security, and a stronger social contract between government and the people.

According to him, the “London Boy” slogan is gradually evolving into a broader political movement focused on continuity, modernisation, innovation, sustainable development, and the future growth of Nasarawa State.
