The chairman of the National Democratic Coalition (NDC) in Zamfara State, Alhaji Surajo Garba Mai Katako, has called on residents and dissatisfied political aspirants across party lines to support Senator Kabir Garba Marafa ahead of the 2027 governorship election, describing the NDC as a “home of justice” for candidates denied fairness in their parties.

In a statement issued on Wednesday, Mai Katako said Marafa’s record in the Senate, his “fearless leadership,” and commitment to the people of Zamfara positioned him as the right candidate to govern the state.

He expressed confidence that the NDC would secure victory in the 2027 governorship contest under his leadership.

“I have full confidence and burning zeal that under my chairmanship, we will deliver, and by the grace of Allah, Senator Kabir Garba Marafa will become Governor of Zamfara State, inshaAllah. We have prepared thoroughly, and this time is our turn, inshaAllah,” he said.

Mai Katako said the party would pursue a peaceful, issue-based campaign anchored on hard work, prayers and grassroots support rather than violence or political manipulation.

“Under Senator Marafa’s government, all citizens of Zamfara will be treated fairly and equitably, to the best of our judgement. Let nobody doubt: we will win this election. It will not be by magic, it will not be by violence,” he stated.

The NDC chairman also used the opportunity to invite aspirants who may lose out in party primaries to defect to the party, assuring them of fairness and protection of their mandates.

“Whoever did not get justice, we invite every such candidate to join our party, the NDC – inshaAllah, we will treat you fairly.

“Do not allow the enemies to steal your mandate. Do not let the resources you invested, your hard-earned money, your sleeplessness, your sweat, your blood, and your priceless time become a worthless sacrifice on the altar of a rigged primary,” he said.

Mai Katako described the NDC as the only political platform in Zamfara committed to fairness, equity and integrity, while accusing other parties of betraying and manipulating candidates during internal contests.

“Where other parties cheat, we uphold the truth. Where others sell their candidates’ mandates, we protect every mandate as sacred. We do not discriminate, we do not manipulate, and we do not betray our own,” he said.

He further appealed to former loyalists of Senator Marafa who had left the political fold to return and work with the party ahead of the 2027 elections, assuring them that the NDC remained open to all without discrimination.

The statement comes amid growing political realignments and consultations ahead of the 2027 general elections, as parties intensify efforts to attract defectors and strengthen their structures across Zamfara State’s 14 local government areas.
