2027: Oke-Ogun Zone Writes Tinubu, Demands Governorship Ticket

A pan Oke-Ogun advocacy group, ‘Egbe Ajosepo Fun Itesiwaju Gbogbo Wa’ has written an open letter to President Bola Tinubu, demanding that the 2027 governorship ticket of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Oyo State be zoned to the area.

The open letter was signed by the national chairman of the group, Engr Dauda Olaifa, and the national secretary, Pastor Favour Adewoyin.

In the letter, the group stated that Oke-Ogun would not accept the position of APC state chairman or deputy governor in place of the governorship ticket.

It added that the zone would overwhelmingly support any political platform that embraces fairness, justice, equity, equality, and inclusivity by granting Oke-Ogun the governorship ticket in 2027.

The group further disclosed that a formidable umbrella coalition known as the ‘G22 Renewed Movement’ has been formed, representing the 22 local government areas outside Ibadan.

According to the group, the long-marginalised zones outside Ibadan have “awakened, organised, and are now advancing as one united and unstoppable political force.”

It alleged that some influential figures within the APC in Oyo State are currently planning to zone the party chairmanship to Oke-Ogun in a bid to deprive the zone the governorship ticket once again.

The group argued that since Oyo South and Oyo North Senatorial Districts have previously produced the party chairman, the position should now be zoned to Oyo Central Senatorial District.

It called on Tinubu to, as a matter of urgency, intervene in the matter and ensure that the Oke-Ogun zone is allowed to produce the APC governorship candidate in 2027.
