Former Ogun State governor and Senator representing the Ogun East Senatorial District, Otunba Gbenga Daniel, has unveiled the BATOGD Movement, specifically created to work for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s re-election in 2027.

BATOGD was established as a grassroots mobilisation support group to engage the nook and cranny of Ogun State in Tinubu’s political mission of ensuring the President’s efforts to improve the country’s economic fortunes.

Addressing thousands of supporters, indigenes and residents of Igode community during his midterm community assessment, review tour and the commissioning of the Renewed Hope International Market, Ìgodè, in Sagamu Local Government area of Ogun State, Daniel declared that their support for President Tinubu’s quest for another term of office would not be compromised, but would remain sacrosanct.
He cited President Tinubu’s economic performances as the premise for their declaration, stressing that the president has shown great boldness in tackling critical and controversial issues surrounding the economy.

He noted that President Tinubu has provided the country with its first conscious leadership through systematically rethinking the nation, redirecting the economy, and re-engineering the protocol of national engagements.

Daniel said the president’s economic interventions, such as the Students’ Loan Scheme, aligned with the objectives of his Gateway Front Foundation.

Commenting on other democratic dividends that await the people of Ogun East Senatorial district after Tinubu’s re-election, Daniel stated that agitation for the creation of Ijebu State will suffer setbacks if he is not returned to the Senate in 2027.

He explained that he had already initiated serious legislative work and lobbying to ensure that the creation of Ijebu State became a reality. He emphasised that only his return to the National Assembly (NASS) in 2027 would guarantee the realisation of their long-overdue yearning for an Ijebu State.

While assuring that he would not relent in making the dreams of the Ijebu and Remo people a reality, Daniel explained that the National Assembly has its own peculiar ways of working and ensures that pending bills are pushed through for continuity’s sake.

“In Abuja, I have been working on creating a new state out of the old Ijebu Province. The advantages of federal allocations for development and employment opportunities are enormous. I thank my colleagues in the Senate – 75 of whom have endorsed the proposal. Out of all the provinces created in 1923, only Ijebu has yet to transition into a state. The agitation is credible and justifiable, and I call on everyone to support it,” he said.
