President Bola Tinubu has formally endorsed Dr. Obafemi Hamzat as the All Progressives Congress (APC) consensus governorship candidate in Lagos State for the 2027 general election.
The endorsement took place during a meeting with members of the Lagos Governance Advisory Council (GAC), led by Prince Tajudeen Oluyole Olusi, and attended by Lagos State governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu at the Presidential Villa in Abuja.
The development was disclosed in a post by the President’s Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga on Wednesday evening.
LEADERSHIP reports that Hamzat is current deputy governor of Lagos State.
At the meeting, Tinubu gave his backing to Hamzat, who emerged as the party’s consensus candidate, in the presence of key stakeholders within the Lagos State APC structure.
