The Progressive Governors Forum (PGF) has reaffirmed its loyalty to the All Progressives Congress (APC) as the leading vehicle for progressive politics in Nigeria, warning that the current political success of the party must never become an excuse for complacency.

The progressive governors in a communique signed by its chairman Senator Hope Uzodimma, who is the governor of Imo State after its meeting held in Eko Hotel, Lagos noted the success rather imposes a higher obligation to govern with humility, competence, and measurable results.

The governors in the meeting which started in the evening of Sunday and spilled over into the early hours of Monday also pledged continued support for the Party’s unity, discipline, and institutional growth, even as they commended the party for the peaceful and orderly conduct of its congresses at the Ward, Local Government, and State levels across the country.

The PGF called on all party leaders and stakeholders to remain committed to internal cohesion, citizen engagement, and service to the national interest.

Prior to the meeting, the Forum paid a visit to President Bola Tinubu at his residence, where critical issues of national development were discussed.

Members of the forum noted that the successful completion of the congress reflects the growing institutional maturity of the party, the commitment of its leadership and stakeholders to internal democracy, and the discipline of party faithful in conducting themselves with restraint, civility, and respect for due process

The Forum  also commended President  Tinubu’s resolve to confront insecurity through stronger national coordination, international collaboration, and institutional reform, and welcomed his commitment to deepen engagement with friendly countries in pursuit of joint solutions to security and other development-related matters.

It also called for sustained investment in intelligence, coordination, technology, border vigilance, and community-based early warning systems.

Members of the forum also emphasized that enduring peace requires not only force of law, but also trust in institutions, opportunity for young people, and a social ethic that rejects violence as a means of grievance.

The governors also reaffirmed their support for stronger policy coordination in infrastructure, agriculture, energy, transportation, healthcare, education, and social investment.
