The Renewed Hope Initiative of the First Lady, Remi Tinubu, has empowered 250 persons living with disabilities (PLWDs) in Ebonyi State with N50 million re-capitalisation grant.

The beneficiaries who were drawn from the 13 local government areas of the state received N200,000 each.

Mrs Tinubu represented by the wife of Ebonyi State governor, Mrs Uzoamaka Nwifuru, disclosed this in Abakaliki during the RHI Economic Empowerment Programme/2026 World Disability Day.
She said 9,500 persons with disabilities across the 36 states of the federation would benefit from the grant.

“This event holds special significance as it coincides with the international day of persons with disability and it’s being launched simultaneously across the thirty six states of the federation, the federal capital territory and the defense and police officers wives association.

“Our nation grows stronger when every initiative, an individual is empowered to contribute meaningfully. As Helen Keller, the renowned American disability rights advocate once said, alone we can do little, together we can do much. this word remind us that truly inclusive society is built when we stand together, creating opportunity that empowered everyone to contribute the unique gift for our collective progress.

“Today, the renewed hope initiative will provide the sum of two hundred thousand naira business re-capitalization grant to Two hundred and fifty persons with disabilities in each state and the federal capital territory to support small business owners to recapitalize their existing business and strengthen their means of livelihood.”
