The Board of Trustees of the IBB International Golf and Country Club, Abuja, has assured that the facility will be fully ready to host the 2026 All Africa Challenge Trophy (AACT), with preparations entering the final stretch.

With just 29 days to the continental women’s team golf championship, the Club’s Chairperson, Hon. Justice Monica Dongban-Mensem, CFR, gave the assurance after inspecting the ongoing rehabilitation works at the facility.

Dongban-Mensem expressed satisfaction with the progress made so far, saying the Club would be ready to welcome golfers and officials from across Africa for the championship.

The IBB International Golf and Country Club has undergone extensive rehabilitation after being closed to regular golfing activities for more than a year.

The ongoing work covers the golf course, selected holes, clubhouse and other facilities as the host venue is being prepared to meet the demands of the continental championship.

The Board of Trustees chairperson said the rehabilitation programme was progressing as planned and expressed confidence that the facility would be ready before the championship tees off on November 2.

Her assurance is expected to boost preparations for Nigeria’s hosting of some of Africa’s leading female golfers in Abuja.

Chairman of the Club’s Interim Management Committee, Peter Deshi, also expressed confidence in the progress of the rehabilitation, saying golfing activities are expected to resume at the facility ahead of the tournament.

For the Ladies Golf Association of Nigeria (LGAN), the readiness of the host course remains a key component of the country’s preparations.

LGAN President, Dr Lami Ahmed, has equally expressed confidence in Nigeria’s readiness to stage the championship.

The 2026 AACT is scheduled to take place from November 2 to 7 at the IBB International Golf and Country Club, Abuja.

With the countdown now entering its final month, the Club’s Board of Trustees has moved to reassure organisers, players and participating countries that the host facility will be ready to receive Africa for the prestigious championship.
