The Bauchi State Police Command has arrested three suspects in connection with a mob action that led to the death of two men in Bunga Hamlet, Dagu Ward, Warji local government area of the state.

The suspects are Samaila Turawa of Gwada, Danbaba Haruna of Gwada, and Ubale Mai Kaji of Ningi.

The command said it received a distress call on May 7, 2026, regarding a mob attack in the area, which resulted in the death of Kabiru Idris, a 30-year-old and Ibrahim Samaila Danliti, a 40-year-old, both from Gabanga Village in Warji local government area.

According to a statement issued by the Police public relations officer, Nafiu Habib, the victims were riding on a motorcycle when they were allegedly chased by a mob from Ningi local government area shouting “thieves, thieves.”

The statement explained that the victims were intercepted at Bunga Hamlet and severely beaten until they became unconscious.

Police operatives later rushed them to the General Hospital, Warji, where a medical doctor confirmed them dead.

The statement, made available to journalists on Saturday, said the suspects are currently in custody at the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID), Bauchi, and are assisting investigators.

It added that efforts are ongoing to arrest other fleeing members of the mob.

While condemning the act, the Commissioner of Police, CP Sani-Omolori Aliyu, directed a discreet investigation to uncover the circumstances surrounding the incident.

He reiterated that no individual or group has the right to take another person’s life unlawfully.

The command further stated that normalcy has been restored in the area, while patrols and community engagement have been intensified to prevent a recurrence.

“The command will ensure that all those involved in this unlawful act are identified and prosecuted in accordance with the law,” the statement added.
