Suspected terrorists have again launched a deadly attack on a military camp in Kemanji community, Kaiama local government area of Kwara State, killing three soldiers.
The attack, according to sources, occurred in the early hours of Monday, with heavy gunfire reported across the area.
The assailants stormed the soldiers’ camp without warning, engaging security operatives in a fierce gun battle that left casualties on the side of the military.
A local source, who spoke on condition of anonymity, described the incident as sudden and violent, confirming that three soldiers lost their lives in the attack.
“Kemanji is a border community, close to the border, so there are thick forests around the place,” the source said.
“Few of the soldiers were asleep around 3 a.m. today when the terrorists invaded their camp and killed three of them before others launched a reprisal attack on the terrorists.”
Details of casualties on the side of the attackers were not immediately known, while security authorities were yet to issue an official statement on the incident.
