In a press statement, the Katsina State Ministry of Internal Security and Home Affairs confirmed that the attackers struck Kadisau, Raudama, and Sabon Layi communities at 5 pm on Monday.

In response, a combined team of Police Mobile Force operatives, Nigerian Army personnel and Nigerian Air Force (NAF) units engaged the bandits in a gun battle.

The security forces, aided by rapid reinforcements and airstrikes, repelled the attackers.

According to the ministry, 30 bandits were killed as they attempted to flee under heavy aerial bombardment.

However, the operation also recorded tragic losses. Three police officers, Inspector Suleiman Ibrahim, Inspector Bello Bala and Corporal Mohammed Lawal, were killed. Two soldiers lost their lives during the battle in Sabon Layi, while a civilian, Aliyu Sa’adu from Kadisau, also died.

Another soldier, Ya’u Aliyu, was injured and is currently receiving medical attention.

The ministry’s commissioner, Dr .Nasiru Mua’zu, expressed deep condolences to the families of the fallen heroes and pledged full government support for them.

He assured the residents that Governor Dikko Umaru Radda’s administration remained resolute in eradicating banditry from the state.

“Our security operations are being intensified in collaboration with federal agencies. We will not rest until peace is fully restored,” Mua’zu stated.

The residents were also urged to remain vigilant and continue sharing timely intelligence with security agencies as investigations into the attacks continue.
