Jigawa Police Arrest 2 Notorious Kidnappers, 156 Others For Various Offences

Jigawa State Police Command has arrested two suspected notorious kidnappers and 165 others over their alleged involvements in different offences.

Commissioner of Police in the state, CP Dahiru Muhammad revealed this while briefing newsmen on the progress made in fighting crimes and drug abuse in the state in the last two months.

CP Muhammad, however, revealed that operatives arrested a 47-year-old kidnapping kingpin identified as Adamu Musa of Yalwawa Quarters, Dutse local government area, who has been terrorising residents of Sumaila LGA in Kano State.

He added that upon investigation, it was discovered that the suspect had kidnapped four residents of Sumaila LGA on different occasions and kept the victims at Baranda Village in Dutse LGA.

The police chief added that the sum of N8 million and one motorcycle valued at N1million were collected as ransom before the release of the victims.

He further disclosed that on 29th August, 2025, at about 3pm, while acting on acctionable intelligence, an anti-kidnapping team comprising policemen and vigilantes attached to Ringim Division arrested a notorious armed robbery/kidnap suspect, a 25-year-old Iro Garba of Zangwaye Fulani Settlement, Ajingi LGA of Kano State.

“The suspect confessed that he and four others have carried out several robbery and kidnapping operations within Kano, Jigawa, and Bauchi States,” he said.

The CP added that three pairs of Army camouflage uniform were recovered in possession of the suspect.

Muhammad said efforts were ongoing to effect the arrest of four suspects at large to connect their involvement with the kidnapping incident that took place in Sumaila LGA, Kano State, in which the Command arrested one Adamu Musa and charged him in court.

The Commissioner, however, revealed that the Command had succeeded in arresting 4 suspects in connection with a shop burglary in Malam Madori local government of the state, unveiling the suspects as Nuhu Yusif Saleh ‘m’ 19 years old; Hassan Ibrahim ‘m’ 19 years old; and Nura Musa ‘m’ 22 years old, all of Malam Madori LGA.

Items reportedly recovered from the suspects included one safe box containing ₦870,000.00, two power banks, one PoS terminal, twenty (20) different handsets, and one Bluetooth speaker.

According to the CP, during the period under review, the Command successfully apprehended a total of 156 suspects accused of different offences.

Among these are two suspected gunrunners, 10 suspected armed robbers, 8 for culpable homicide, 16 for rape cases, 16 suspected vandals, 50 suspected drug baron/dealers and 45 for offences bordering on theft.

Some of the exhibits recovered from the suspects include 2 fabricated AK-47 rifles, 3 vehicles, 1 tricycle, and 4 motorcycles.

Others include large quantity of vandalised cable, 23 mobile phones and 14 russtled cows, 3,907 pieces of Exol tablets, 11,742 pieces of D_5 tablets, 395 pieces of tramadol tablets, 861 wraps, and large quantities of dried leaves suspected to be Indian hemp, 1,121 pieces of Diazepam tablets 288 pieces of rubber solution and 40 pieces of Lara capsules.
