The teams, competing in both senior and under-17 male and female categories, have come from all corners of Nigeria to take part in this highly competitive tournament, which aims to enhance Nigeria’s prospects ahead of the continental championship later this year.

The teams arrived in Kaduna on 16th February, prior to the technical session held on the 17th at Ahmadu Bello Stadium. They then moved to the beach courts of the Murtala Mohammed Square Multipurpose Sports Complex for the tournament’s opening proceedings on the same day.

In an interview with journalists during the vibrant opening ceremony, Mr. Martin Melandi, Technical Director of the Nigeria Volleyball Federation (NVBF), expressed his enthusiasm over the increased number of participating teams this year.

He announced that the top three teams in all categories would receive cash prizes in recognition of their efforts.

Melandi noted that although the tournament was originally planned to last longer, it would conclude on Friday, allowing players representing their respective states in the National Sports Festival (NSF) and zonal eliminations sufficient time to return to their locations.

DCP Stephen Hasso (Rtd), who also spoke at the event, expressed his admiration for the quality of players participating this year.

He remarked that the President Beach Volleyball Tournament has, over the years, nurtured talent for the country.

The sixth edition of the President Beach Volleyball Tournament is set to conclude on Friday.
