4 Die, 1 Injured In Oyo Multiple Road Accidents

No fewer than four people have been confirmed dead in multiple accidents that involved seven vehicles at the Soka area on the ever-busy Lagos-Ibadan express road.

The Oyo State sector commander of the Federal Road Safety Corps ( FRSC), Rosemary Alo, who confirmed the incident, which occurred at Soka area in Ibadan, described it as fatal.

She said the accident involved seven vehicles: a Nissan (Micra) with registration number MAP 286 ZY, a private Toyota Camry car with registration number KSF 339 DS, a commercial Nissan car with registration number LUY 799, a commercial Iveco tanker with registration number BAM 22 XA, a commercial vehicle DAF truck registration number unknown, a commercial vehicle truck with registration number T 28238 LA and a private Toyota Camry car with registration GGE 90 JX.

According to her, four people, one male and three females, were killed while one person, a female who was injured, was taken to the hospital.

She added that 11 people were involved in the accident, and she said none of the passengers were saved by seat belts or other defensive gadgets.

Alo said that no item was recovered from the accident scene, urging drivers to desist from excessive speeding and always embrace defensive driving techniques while on the road.

She explained that officers rescued the injured victim from the Sanyo police station before the arrival of the rescue team. In contrast, the corpses of the other victims were deposited at the Adeoyo State Hospital morgue in Ibadan.

She said Sanyo Police Division Divisional Transport Officer (DTO), Adesina Oluwole, an Assistant Superintendent of Police, took charge of accidented vehicles. At the same time, one of the corpses was handed over to the relative with the express permission of the Sanyo Divisional Police Officer (DPO).
