The Civil Society Group for Good Governance (CSGGG) has strongly opposed the prevailing public sentiment regarding the alleged involvement of the Minister of Interior in an N438 million contract with the Humanitarian Ministry.

Addressing newsmen on Thursday in Abuja, the convener of CSGGG, Chief Ogakwu Dominic, expressed concern over the accusations levelled against Hon. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo regarding the N438 million Humanitarian Ministry Contract.

He stressed the need to clarify the situation and discourage biased perceptions.

Tunji-Ojo had during an interview on Channels TV defended himself against these allegations, providing evidence to disassociate himself from the contentious N438 million contract linked to the suspended Minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Alleviation, Betta Edu.

Dominic reiterated that CSGGG’s response aimed to counter the misinformation circulating in public discourse, aiming to safeguard the Minister’s reputation and integrity.

He noted Tunji-Ojo’s commendable efforts within a short tenure in office, stressing his commitment to the Interior Ministry’s mandate and national development.

“While social media platforms have been rife with criticism, the Minister has shown exceptional leadership by spearheading significant reforms, bringing about efficiency and progressive change across various agencies under his purview,” Dominic added.

He urged the public to recognize the Minister’s achievements, citing instances such as the swift clearance of a passport backlog at the Nigeria Immigration Service and efforts to secure funds for prison inmates’ fines, which eased congestion in correctional facilities nationwide.

Dominic applauded Tunji-Ojo’s dedication to improving international relations concerning visa processes and advocating for fairness for Nigerian applicants.

The convener stressed the need to spotlight these accomplishments in the face of rampant social media judgment.

He concluded by reaffirming the Minister’s commitment to revolutionising passport processing and implementing accessible services for citizens.
