Five female students of the Federal University, Dutsinma in Katsina State have been kidnapped by suspected terrorists.

A credible source in the area confirmed the abduction of the students and said they were kidnapped yesterday in their residence behind Mariamoh Ajiri Memorial International School at about 2:30 a.m.

The state police public relations officer, ASP Abubakar Sadiq Aliyu, confirmed the abduction of the students and said the police had arrested some suspects in connection with the incident.

He said the investigation is ongoing to unravel the occurrences of the incident and to rescue the kidnapped students. The spokesman said efforts are on to rescue the victims unhurt.

Both the male and female students of the school live off-campus due to insecurity in the state.
