Five officers are currently in contention for the position of the Force Public Relations Officer after the removal of ACP Benjamin Hundeyin earlier on Thursday.
LEADERSHIP investigation last night showed that outstanding police public relations officers are jostling and been tipped for the police image maker.
Prominent among them are FCT police spokesperson, SP Josephine Adeh, Delta State police PRO, Bright Edafe, who are leading the race for the position.
However, a source who spoke confided in our correspondent as at the time of filling the report, said former FPRO DCP Muyiwa Adejobi is also been mentioned in some quarters; while PROs from Lagos and Enugu are also been mentioned.
Earlier on Thursday, IGP Olatunji Disu was reported to have removed ACP Hundeyin as its Force Public Relations Officer, about six months after he assumed the position.
Appointed by former IGP Kayode Egbetokun, Hundeyin had served for six months before the appointment of the new IGP.
He is a native of Badagry, Lagos State and he holds a Bachelor’s Degree in English Language from Lagos State University and a Master’s Degree in Legal Criminology and Security Psychology from the University of Ibadan.
He was the former police PRO Lagos State prior to his appointment as Force PRO, and served as police public relations officer for Zone 2 Command Headquarters in Onikan, Lagos.
Though the police authority have not announced the removal or replacement, intense lobby are ongoing for the exalted position.
