An emeritus professor of Political Science, Prof Nchor Bichene Okorn, has proposed a five-year strategic plan with backed up funding as part of measures to end lingering industrial action by the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU).
Speaking during a media interactive session in Abuja at the weekend, Prof Okorn said it was unfortunate that most issues which formed part of ASUU’s struggle three decades ago are still on the table of discussion.
According to him, the plan must involve strategic budgeting for education with the fund domiciled in place where it cannot be touched or embezzled.
ASUU, which has been on strike since February, recently said it’s willing to suspend the strike as long as the federal government is ready to fulfil its demands.
Importantly, the Pacesetters International Assembly (PACINA) Abuja branch has committed to projecting Prof. Okorn to work in tandem with African Heads of Government, ECOWAS sub region, African Union and international community’s vision for better humanity.
