After five years of inactivity, the Association of Local Governments of Nigeria (ALGON), Kwara State chapter, has elected new executives to run its affairs.

The association had become comatose following the protracted legal tussle that followed the suspension of the local government chairmen and councillors by the state House of Assembly in 2019.

The chairmen of the Transition Implementation Committee( TIC) that replaced the suspended elected local government chairmen did not constitute ALGON during their about 5 years tenure.

However, the election of new local government chairmen in September 2024 has eventually paved the way for the reconstitution of ALGON in the state.

Consequently, the chairman of Kaiama local government area, Hon. Abdullahi Abubakar, has been elected as the state ‘s ALGON chairman.
