5-yr-old Girl Dies After Dog Bite In Oyo

A five-year-old girl identified as Moriana Maruf has died as a result of injuries sustained after she was attacked by a dog.

It was gathered that the little girl was attacked by the dog owned by one Mrs Eunice Kolade at the Adagbada area of Apete, a suburb of Ibadan, the Oyo State capital around 7:4am on Sunday.

The victim was taken to a private hospital in the area but was later referred to University College Hospital (UCH), Ibadan where she later died in the process.

A source told our correspondent that a resident of the area, simply identified as Sunday, killed the dog after the incident.

The source who spoke on the condition of anonymity, said the little girl was attacked beyond recognition.

“The dog attacked the little girl beyond recognition. She was taken to a private hospital and was later referred to UCH. She did not survive it.”

Police Public Relations Officer in the state, Adewale Osifeso, when contacted on Wednesday, said investigation was ongoing on the incident.
