Fifty outstanding graduates of TechRise Cohort 2 trainees organised by the Abia State government have been offered automatic employment by the government just as those who won prizes are to receive N100,000 each.
The state governor, Alex Otti stated these at the graduation ceremony of the 849 participants in the 3-month training on 21st Century Cutting-Edge Digital Skills in Umuahia, the state capital.
Furthermore Otti directed the provision of fares to the participants back to their respective local governments areas, laptops, and N50,000 each as Christmas package.
He said the employment is subject to the beneficiaries’ possession of important documents required to function in the state civil service.
”As you may be aware, we are repositioning the service delivery architecture in the state to run more efficiently on digital infrastructure super highway.
”The aim is to become less reliant on physical paper, provide round-the-clock services and ultimately improve turn around time,” Otti announced.
The governor noted that in whatever his administration was investing on, the objective has remained to make the state the best and truly the number one in the country.
However, on a sad note, he lamented the death of one of the trainees, Princewill Ogbonnia, who died few days to the ceremony, and extended his condolences to his family.
Earlier, the CEO Learn Factory/ coordinator of the programme,Chibueze Ukaegbu stated his determination to ensure ICT development in the state and enjoined the graduands to make use of the skills acquired.
Responding on behalf of other participants, Chinwemeri Benjamin thanked Otti for the opportunity and the largesse, noting that the skill makes them economically independent.
