An international non-governmental organisation (INGO), Cooperative Assistance for Relief Everywhere (CARE) has distributed N7,288,800 as intervention response to Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) in Bauchi State.

The IDPs were victims of the civil disturbances in Mangu local government area of Plateau State who are taking refuge in four local government areas of Bauchi, Dass, Tafawa Balewa and Toro in Bauchi State.

At the event in Bauchi yesterday, the project manager for Emergency Response Crisis for Mangu victims in Bauchi, Abacha Abubakar, said 6,436 victims of the Mangu council crisis are benefitting from the exercise.

Abubakar said, “The cash is unconditional to support the victims and for each household using the minimum expenditure, we are giving them a basket for the North East updated to 2023, which each household is to go home with N60, 740.”

Abubakar said the victims were also getting some kits for pregnant women, lactating mothers and adolescent girl-children.

He said, “We got this 1,200 households list from the Bauchi State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA) under the state Ministry for Humanitarian Affairs and Disaster Management, so we rely on the data we got from SEMA, we as CARE, we swung into action, we rallied round CARE/USA which supported us with money to intervene in the victims’ plight residing in Bauchi at this moment.”
