Niger State Police Command has arrested six suspects following a recent report of youth unrest, thuggery and attacks in Dutsen-Kura and a notorious car thief in Kpakungu both in Minna, the state capital.
LEADERSHIP Friday reports that there was an unrest at Dusten-Kura junction between some miscreants of Dutsen-Kura Gwari and Dutsen-Kura Hausa last Monday.
Consequently the command‘s police public relations officer (PPRO) Wasiu Abiodun said the police operatives attached to GRA Police Division through actionable intelligence on the identity of some of the miscreants, conducted a sting operation at some identified black spots/criminal hideouts within Dutsen-Kura Hausa, to arrest the suspects.
He said those arrested were Mustapha Abubakar, Ahmed Abubakar, Ismail Mohammed, Albashir Ahmed, Hameed Mohammed and Yahaya Saidu.
He said during the raid, a sharp cutlass, 10 wraps of suspected cannabis, and cash sum of N6,040 were recovered.
Similarly he said there was a report of a stolen vehicle at Kpakungu Police Division; that Toyota vehicle with Reg. No. AE 594 MAK parked at Kure market, Minna was stolen while the driver was seeking for passengers at the market.
He said that upon receipt of the report, the division‘s police patrol team and vigilante members embarked on an emergency patrol along Bida Road. The vehicle was intercepted at Gbeganu junction, Bida Road, with one Shamsu Musa of the Kofan-Market area, Sokoto State.
He said that during interrogation, the suspect confessed that he travelled from Sokoto State to Minna to steal the vehicle with two master keys, adding that the vehicle and the master keys were recovered as preliminary investigation was ongoing. The suspect will be transferred to SCID for further investigation and diligent prosecution.
