Not fewer than 7 persons lost their lives in a road accident along the Damaturu-Maiduguri Highway in Yobe State.

LEADERSHIP understands that other passengers sustained varying degrees of injuries during the Incident.

According to a credible source, the accident involved a Toyota Sienna bus and a Toyota Corolla car.

Eyewitnesses attributed the crash to overspending by both vehicles, adding that the vehicle heading towards Maiduguri lost control and somersaulted along the highway.

One of the residents who helped to evacuate the victims to a nearby hospital confirmed that medical personnel declared 7 persons as dead on arrival.

 

Speaking to LEADERSHIP, the Information Officer of Yobe Emergency Medical Ambulance Service (YEMABUS), Mallam Ibrahim Waziri also confirmed seven fatalities comprisingfive adults and three children.

 

“Those injured are currently receiving treatment, with some in critical condition,” Waziri added.
